Or should I say... since I rambled on and you sweet people put up with me.
Anyway, like everyone else around, I've been über busy lately.
To clarify, "über busy" means working, cooking {not enough, think take-out}, cleaning {hah, way not enough}, painting, rearranging furniture, making blocks, hanging curtains and some really nice evenings spent just hanging out with my family.
Currently, I'm sitting here taking an unscheduled break from work with a little man who woke up with a pretty scary headache.
Right now he's sleeping it off and feeling a bit better, thank you Jesus, so I thought I'd take the time to share with you all what kept me busy this past Saturday.
Up until two weeks ago, Morgan, my oldest, had decided she was NOT going to Prom.
I was a bit disappointed that she would miss the experience of her Junior Prom,
but she was certain, and that was that.
So imagine my surprise when, four days after her school's prom was over, she sent me a text saying she was GOING TO PROM???
It was a whirlwind story involving friends, a different school, a blind date, a borrowed dress and TEN DAYS to plan everything!!
What's a mom to do in a situation like this?
Have fun!
We shopped for jewelry and shoes and literally didn't find everything we needed till the morning of.
AND... with such late notice, the hair, make-up, mani/pedi, everything, was all being done at home.
It was crazy and fun and she was absolutely gorgeous, and now I'll shut up and just let you see her...
Wow, the sun was bright that day!
Morgan was thrilled to see that little bit of bokeh effect showing up naturally in the pics.
I'll tell you, I used a curling wand for the first time ever doing this girls hair.
I had a constant fear of THIS happening every time I curled another section.
If you haven't seen the video of this poor young girl burning her hair off, you really must click over and watch it.
Her reaction is priceless!
Gorgeous girl!!!
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThis happened in our household--only it was my son who announced three days before Prom that he was going!!! AAARRRRUUGGHH! Fortunately the young lady who was to be his date had basically decided to go alone and already had flowers for herself--before I was notified of that fact I'd been to two florists who looked at me like I was a crazy woman. I was headed to a craft store to try and figure out making something myself when I got a text--"oh mom, don't worry about flowers" or something to that effect. But they had a great time and I did a beautiful scrapbook page that got awards at the county fair--so it was all good. But I feel your pain! Cannot imagine getting a girl ready in that short of a time!
ReplyDeleteThree days?? That's craziness! I thought ten was bad, LOL! Glad to know my child isn't the only one who does things last minute, but it's still a lot of fun!!

Oh Jeannine, she's absolutely beautiful!! And dare I say, looks a lot like mom? :) I hope she had fun, her date looks like a nice young man. How fun to get to go with her good friends. Hair, nails and makeup were done at our house too, by yours truly, and my daughter said she wouldn't have had it any other way. I'm sure your daughter appreciated every minute you spent helping her pull it all together. A sweet memory for sure. Let us know how the blind date worked out!
